This painting has been a highlight of Bristol Museum & Art Gallery's collection since 1913. The artist Frank Dicksee took inspiration from John Keat's poetry: Blind to the beauties of the countryside around him, a young, doomed knight surrenders himself to La Belle sans Merci (The Beautiful Lady without Mercy).
