Gift an e-voucher for someone to have a go at driving our steam engine, Henbury and one of the iconic electric cranes outside M Shed.

Experience the sights, sounds and smells of a steam engine with a 20 minute driving experience on Henbury followed by a 20 minute session in one of our cranes.

Our one-to-one tuition gives you the thrill of being the driver whilst testing your skill in controlling the hook.

After taking both machines for a spin, you’ll receive a certificate of achievement.

Vouchers are valid until 31/12/2025 - dates for 2024 to be announced in Spring 2024. 

Requirements

You must:

• Be agile enough to climb the last three steps into the crane cab
• Be over 18 years of age
• Wear a face covering where possible
• Be able to obey the instructions of the driver
• The crane cab is reasonably high so this may not be suitable for people with a fear of heights
• The steam engine can be a hot, dirty, oily environment. Please wear suitable clothing and shoes. Trousers are preferred. No open toed sandals. Gloves and an overall jacket will be supplied
• We reserve the right to refuse entry to unsuitable persons (under the influence of drugs or alcohol)

How to book

Can I book my dates now or reserve a space?
Dates for 2024 will be announced in Spring 2024 – please check our M Shed website for more information - M Shed | Bristol Museums. By way of saying thank you for buying a voucher, we will be contacting people who have purchased vouchers with available dates before tickets go on general sale.

I’d like to present this in a gift box, can you send me one?
At this time vouchers are only availably as a digital product – if you would like to gift this to someone you’re welcome to purchase a card or suitable accompanying gift from our website to be delivered to you. We’re working hard on creating a bespoke gift box in the near future. Please note the last date of guaranteed delivery for Christmas is Wednesday 13^th December 2023 but e-vouchers can be bought at anytime and delivered within minutes. Our shops are open at M Shed and Bristol Museum and Art Gallery Tuesday to Sunday 10:00 – 17:00.

What if the available dates don’t suit me?
Your voucher is valid until December 31^st 2025 so there are 2 years worth of dates to book. If this still doesn’t work, please discuss this with the team and we will see what special arrangements can be made.

What do I need to do with my voucher?
Please bring your voucher with you on the day, further to this you may be asked for your voucher reference number when speaking to the team so please make sure you have it to hand

I want to use my voucher for something else?
Our vouchers are non-transferable and non-refundable, if you cannot attend a session please speak to the team directly who will be happy to look into alternatives for you. The recipient or the purchaser will not receive the difference in value if a product of lesser value is chosen.
