Lying in the ivy beside the Danube River in early spring, Imre felt transported back to an ancient time. A sea of delicate blue scilla flowers scented the air. In this in-camera double-exposure image, he created a soft close-up impression of a flower and then artfully combined it with the fine petals of another bloom.

National parks like the Danube-Ipoly National Park preserve ancient woodland habitats and protect them from deforestation for agriculture or urban development. Over time, these precious forests have built up a rich diversity of wildlife and plants – such as the scilla – that may not naturally thrive in any other habitat.
