Made in Japan from porcelain with the outline of a large smiling cats face and a stylish blue and white wave-like design (seikaiha) on the inside and outside. Seikaiha, which means blue sea and waves, is the geometric pattern formed of overlapping concentric semicircles and originally found on garments used for traditional court dances.
