Watson has captured a carefree day by a mountain river. Two girls play in the sunshine, while two young women sit on large angular boulders in the foreground, all in light summer outfits and sporting fashionable 1920s hairstyles. Beyond the stream, the far bank of the river is visible. The artist painted mostly landscapes and portraits and 'Holidays' is typical of his best work, showing a carefree day by a mountain river.
