A twilight view from the shore of the river in the Avon gorge. In the foreground four men push out a small wooden boat with one man riding in the boat. The cliffs rise high on the left hand side and the moon is full and bright in the sky.

Samuel Jackson (1794 – 1869) was an English watercolourist and oil painter who has been called the "father" of the Bristol School of art.
