A pale landscape with windswept trees to the right and buildings in the background. In the foreground are two horses drinking from a shallow river lined with short trees. In the background, to the left, is a sandstone church tower, accompanied by three tall thin trees.
William James Müller (1812 – 1845) was a British landscape and figure painter, the best-known artist of the Bristol School. He first studied painting under James Baker Pyne. His early pictures were mostly of the scenery of Gloucestershire and Wales.
