William West (1801–1861) was an English landscape painter and member of the Bristol School of Artists, renowned for oil paintings and watercolours. He is best known for creating the Clifton Observatory in Bristol, which he transformed into an attraction featuring a camera obscura and a 61-meter tunnel to St Vincent's Cave.
