A view from the top of a gorge looking down onto the smooth, untroubled river. The steep sides of the gorge are covered in woodland on the left and grass plains on the right. Tall ships sail on the river.
Samuel Jackson (1794 – 1869) was an English watercolourist and oil painter who has been called the "father" of the Bristol School of art.
